While service in the SBS demands exceptional personal qualities of its men, their families also have to deal with the hugely uncertain and demanding lifestyle it brings. The Association has an increasingly important role to play and they are currently investing in a number of initiatives and projects intended to alleviate the pressures their members and their families are enduring due to the unprecedented operational tempo of the Unit.
The SBSA exists to ensure that the best possible long term medical and psychiatric care and discreet welfare assistance is provided for its members and families, whilst also providing support and assistance to the families of the deceased. The costs, however, can be astronomical and where these cannot be met by the public purse the SBSA will aim to provide. They are a registered charity, funded entirely by voluntary subscriptions and donations.
Given the enduring nature of our commitment the SBSA are more determined than ever to raise the necessary funds to provide for its members and their families now and in the future.
